Beautiful people and great music add up to good times at The Place

bp-theplace3Walk into The Place, at 2 Broad Street in Boston’s financial district, on a Wednesday night, and you might wake up Thursday wondering what just happened. The first thing you’ll see? A girl in a green bikini serving beers from a big metal tub; a nice invitation into an already packed bar by 10pm. The Celtics are playing this particular evening, and the bartenders look a little annoyed that every guy in the room has his eyes glued to the 4th quarter madness taking place on the screen. The Celtics are being destroyed slowly by the Orlando Magic. Once the game ends, however, the mood instantly shifts to that of a rockin’ beach party. With every bartender sporting a bikini and a quick handed go-to drink, the room suddenly becomes a lot more sexy. Adrian, the most striking girl behind the bar, has worked there for two years, and loves the "fun" staff and great party atmosphere. According to her, The Place is a modern beach party on Wednesday night, complemented by The Dollhouse Djs, a bp-theplace1group of beautiful go-go dancers turned Djs who spin all over the city. The Place, and the Dollhouse DJs fearless leader Sammy, trained these girls to combine music and dancing into one great package. These girls work in pairs usually; one beauty spinning, and the other dancing on tables and bars to pump up the crowd. It works on this particular occasion, with one gorgeous girl taking the role of dancer and DJ. When her shirt comes off to reveal the bikini she’s been sporting all night, the dance floor immediately gets packed and she rocks the house with hits that make everyone look good. In the ‘Boom Boom Room’, towards the back of The Place, and separated from the rest of the bar, Sammy tells me that girls get ‘crazy’, and sudden make out sessions and a little ‘hey how you doin’ nudity sometimes even ensues. Could you imagine a better party of a Wednesday? According to many, including Sukkolk kids in attendance, it’s the best place to be.

bp-theplace2The rest of the crowd are 20-somethings, two in particular being Hayley and her anonymous friend that are Suffolk students. According to them, "(IF) you wanna have a good time, go nowhere else." They’re sure that The Place is the only stop on the train for them tonight, and their feisty antics get even more entertaining as the night goes on. Their craziest story from the place? "I don’t remember, says Hayley, but I do know they have really hot Djs." Maybe they were in the Boom Boom Room that night. After these girls meet Sammy, we are informed by one of the other bikini-clad bartenders, Kristal, who’s saucy to boot, that there will be a ‘Sexy-Kiss’ on Sunday, May 30th. Didn’t make it? Head down to The Place and try your luck on a Wednesday night. According to Sammy and Krystal, more than 75% of the girls are single, and with a room called The Boom Boom, there are plenty of crazy antics to be had any night of the week at The Place. Fridays and Saturdays get ‘packed and crazy’, according to my new Suffolk friends, so get there early and see why The Place is suitably named. There really is no other bar to go to in Downtown Crossing.
