Everyone loves a good Film Festival and there are plenty to choose from these days. One at the top of our list is the New Hampshire Film Festival to be held this weekend Oct. 17th through the 20th in Portsmouth.
The festival presents 100 of the best independent films from around the world over four days in four downtown screening venues
NHFF is one of the only public platforms in northern New England and in the state of New Hampshire, for residents to screen independent film, and experience international cinema, documentaries and short films. Offering a completely different experience from going to a movie at a movieplex, these screenings take place in downtown Portsmouth historic landmarks: The Music Hall, The Music Hall Loft, The Seacoast Repertory Theater, and the The Moffatt Ladd House with nearly all films represented by a director, producer, or cast member who are available for interactive Q&As after screenings. The attendees will be given the opportunity to connect with the most innovative, inspirational, and influential visual artists of the year with a Q&A session..
The NHFF program always maintains a level of quality on par with major festivals like Tribeca,Sundance, Cannes, and SXSW. Yet, NHFF maintains integrity with original premieres and underground indies that start their journey in NH and spiral on into the world. What results is an eclectic mix of documentries, shorts and features, that provides all accepted films the prestige of being included in a world-class program.
The NHFF provides more than just film!
Industry Panels Allow attendees to take full advantage of the knowledge and expertise of attending filmmakers and industry members, adding a vital educational component. Held in the Discover Portsmouth Center conference room in two hour blocks throughout the weekend, each panel offers insight, knowledge, and inside information into the fundamentals and advanced aspects of filmmaking.
Five parties held throughout the weekend take place at Portsmouth’s finest clubs, bars, and restaurants highlighting the beauty of the city. The parties offer essential networking and meet and greet opportunities for filmmakers, industry professionals and audience members in a lively environment that is relaxed
We recommend that you stop by MoJo’s Barbeque Grill & Tavern when your in town where they have the best Award winning BBQ in town. Two great reasons to head to Portsmouth This Weekend.
